Carpenters Health and Security Plan

Dental Benefits

The Plan offers benefits for covered services related to routine care you need for good oral health. This includes exams and cleanings, as well as fillings, bridges, root canals, and even braces. Benefits are reimbursed up to the amount allowed in the Dental Fee Schedule.

  • Delta Dental of Washington

Benefits for dental services, implants and orthodontia, are administered by Delta Dental of Washington. Contact Delta Dental with questions about benefits or claims for services received.

The Delta Dental website is your best resource for information about your coverage and how it works. You can find a dentist, print ID cards, check claims, and compare treatment costs. Once you are enrolled in the Carpenters Health and Security Plan, go to the Delta Dental home page and complete the simple, one-time registration. Then you can access the MySmile® personal benefits center.

    • Find A Dentist allows you to search a list of nearly 4,000 Delta Dental preferred providers in Washington alone, plus a nationwide directory of more than 140,000 Delta Dental providers.
    • Check Your Coverage allows you to check your plan coverage and eligible benefits.
    • Print ID Card – is for accessing a printable version of your ID Card.
    • Claim Status lets you check the status of current claims and view previous payments online.
  • Providers

Covered individuals save money using dentists who participate in the Delta Dental PPO or Delta Dental Premier network. These dentists provide services at discounted rates. There are two ways to search:

    • Sign in to Delta Dental of Washington. A simple, one-time registration is required. The website will automatically guide you to dentists covered by your plan.
    • Search online directory (no registration required)

If you already have dentist, verify whether they participate in one of the available networks. If you do not have a dentist, you might try searching the Delta Dental PPO network first. This network provides the deepest discounts to you and your dependents. If your search is not successful, search again using the Delta Dental Premier network.

Remember, using a non-network dentist is always an option, with the understanding that the provider has not negotiated a discounted fee arrangement with Delta Dental of Washington. Covered services will be reimbursed according to the Dental Fee Schedule.

Regardless of the dentist you choose, be sure to present your Delta Dental ID card at the time of your appointment.

  • Claims and Billing

Network Providers: Delta Dental providers do the paperwork. They will submit your claim directly to Delta Dental of Washington and receive payment in return. If your dentist is allowed to charge you for the difference between the dental fee schedule and the discounted fee, he or she may request that portion of the payment at the time of service or bill you later. The EOB details how the claim was processed.

Non-Network Providers: If you use a non-network dentist, the patient is responsible for completing and signing claims forms and sending them to Delta Dental of Washington. Claim forms are available on the Delta Dental website.
