08/01/06 - New Mayo Clinic e-Health Program Website Available
The Carpenters Health and Security Trust, in cooperation with Mayo Clinic, has launched a new website specifically for participants and spouses covered under the Carpenters Health and Security Plan. With so much information on healthcare in magazines, on television, and online, it’s sometimes hard to know where to go or just what to believe. The new website brings together the collective knowledge and experience of thousands of Mayo Clinic professionals to provide you with useful information about good health and nutrition, exercise and fitness, as well as detailed information about thousands of illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions. The new website is available August 1, 2006 and is an integral part of the Carpenters Health and Security Trust’s wellness initiatives. The new website is:

Getting Started
The first time you access the new Mayo Clinic website, you will be asked to register. The registration process takes only a few moments. In the left column under “New Users Start Here” click on “register now>>.” There are five easy steps for first time users. Once you have registered, all you need is your user name and password to log on again. Your spouse, if applicable, should register separately.
How to Use the New e-Health Program Website
Once you log on to the new website you’ll find:
- Prevention and self-care tips on hundreds of common health concerns.
- Detailed information about any prescribed medication.
- Assessment tools to help you identify your own health strengths and weaknesses, along with advice on how to improve your health.
- Healthy lifestyle programs on topics such as weight control, exercise, and stress management that let you set personal goals, guide you toward success, and track your progress.
- Information to help you better manage conditions such as asthma, headaches, and back pain.
- Practical information, such as healthy recipes and ideas for balancing work and family.
You may also access your personalized page by clicking on “My HealthSpot” in the upper left column of the site. Your personalized page contains detailed information about specific healthcare topics selected when you registered. You can update your personalized page at any time.
What’s Coming Next
The new wellness initiatives provided by the Carpenters Health and Security Trust include five Mayo Clinic Health Information resources. You’ve already received the Mayo Clinic Guide to Self-Care and the Mayo Clinic nurse line is available to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You will also continue to receive the Mayo Clinic HealthQuest Newsletter each month. Then, coming in October 2006, you will be given access to the health risk assessment or HRA, a powerful tool to help you take full advantage of these wellness resources. Details about the HRA will be discussed in upcoming communications. Also coming in October 2006 is the Mayo Clinic Advisor Programs for lifestyle coaching. This is a program that provides direct, telephone-based support for you and your spouse if you want additional help managing specific health risks such as weight, exercise, nutrition, or stress. The Mayo Clinic Advisor Programs will provide you with real-time personalized support from experienced counselors. While the intent of this program is to assist you in making changes in your life, it is voluntary – you may choose to use or not use it depending on your specific needs.
We hope you take advantage of the new e-Health Program and website as well as the other health and education resources provided by Mayo Clinic. If you have any questions about the new website or any of the Mayo Clinic resources, please contact a Customer Service Representative at the Trust Office:
