Getting to Know Aetna

With 5,589 hospitals nationwide and more than 674,000 primary care doctors and specialists, it's quite likely that your current doctor or provider is part of the Aetna Choice POS II network. There is a cost advantage to using participating providers, so it's wise to call your present doctor or provider to confirm participation. (more info) An online provider directory is available on Aetna Navigator®.

ID Cards and Claims

Aetna/Carpenters ID cards
Carpenters who are currently eligible for medical benefits will receive Aetna/Carpenters ID cards by mail. If you do not receive your cards by June 1, contact Carpenters Trusts to speak with a Customer Service Representative. Take your new card to your next appointment so the provider can update your insurance information.

Claims
Carpenters Trusts is still the place to call with questions about medical, vision and prescription claims (contact). But here's an important change: All medical and vision claims must be sent to Aetna for dates of service on or after June 1, 2015. To file a claim not already submitted by your provider, complete an Aetna medical claim form or vision claim form and mail to the address printed on the back of the Aetna/Carpenters ID card. Do not send claims to Carpenters Trusts.
