Of Coverage
Non-Signatory
Employers
If a retiree
works one or more hours for a non-signatory employer in the building and
construction industry, his or her coverage under the Carpenters Health and
Security Plan – For Retired Carpenters will be suspended on the first day
of the month following the month the Trust Office is notified that he or she
worked for a non-signatory employer. The terms “building and construction
industry” and “work in the building and construction industry”
are defined as follows:
- “Building
and construction industry” means business activities of the types engaged
in by any employers maintaining the Carpenters Retirement Plan of Western
Washington.
- “Work
in the building and construction industry” means work of the type
performed by employees or associate employees covered by the Carpenters
Retirement Plan or work which requires directly or indirectly the use of the
same skills employed by an employee at any time under the Carpenters Retirement
Plan.
Coverage
under the Carpenters Health and Security Plan – For Retired Carpenters
will be reinstated on the first of the month following the month the retiree
stops working for a non-signatory employer. The retiree is responsible for
notifying the Trust Office that he or she has ceased working for a non-signatory
employer as a condition of reinstatement. These suspension rules do not apply to
disability retirement (please see Termination Of Coverage
below).
